Nursing Culture

For us, community means family.
When you join Tufts Medicine, you’re part of our family from day one. That means you’ll be welcomed into a community that cares about your growth, both as an individual and as a medical professional. We’ll get to know your first name, your pronouns, your food preferences, your goals and more. Here, you’ll be supported every step of the way as you follow your passions and unlock your true potential.

What our employees are saying

"I've been a nurse for 17 years, and one of the things I value the most is teamwork. I love the team I work with. We treat each other as equals, and we're sensitive to each other's needs. I can call anyone at any time to run a scenario by them and get their perspective. In a hospice setting it's especially important to be allowed to be vulnerable and recalibrate so you can give your best. Here, I feel heard, seen and appreciated."
Julie Genovese, RN Hospice Admissions Home Health Foundation
"Throughout my career here, from student nurse to clinical nurse to nursing leader, I've felt supported and empowered to pursue my professional goals. A collaborative culture is absolutely key, and ours is built around community—community with brilliant, dedicated and compassionate colleagues and the patients and families we serve every day."
Amy Lund MSN, RN, NE-BC, PCCN-K Director of Nursing Quality Outcomes and Magnet Program Director Robin and David Jaye Center for Nursing Excellence

We have an open heart and mind

A great leader is one that listens. Our organization values input from all voices at every stage of the decision-making process, and we use these ideas to drive change and foster innovation.

To provide the highest quality of patient-centered and family-centered care, we balance working in collaboration and working autonomously. That means that we can learn from each other and are free to be ourselves.

We value you

At Tufts Medicine, you'll be part of a community that truly cares and puts your well-being first–but don't just take our word for it.

  • Many of our nurses are eligible for DAISY Awards, an international recognition program that honors and celebrates exceptional nursing care.

We promote safety

We pride ourselves on fostering a culture of safety across every practice and in every room. While specific programs differ between locations, you can rest assured that we put safety, reliability and well-being first. With zero tolerance for harm or misconduct, examples of our safety-first culture include conducting case reviews and safety briefings, posting clear signage on our code of conduct and implementing safety reporting systems. And at Tufts Medicine, safety applies to your emotional well-being, too. We work through difficult cases together, bringing in an intervention team and chaplain, if appropriate, so that you get the support you need.

We have the courage to be curious

At Tufts Medicine, we challenge ourselves to be the best that we can be, and a big part of that is ongoing learning.
