Get to know Burlington
Home to Tufts Medicine's headquarters, Burlington, Massachusetts is a city that's growing by the day, with a burgeoning arts scene and easy access to green spaces. In addition to nearly 20 parks and playgrounds, there are restaurants to suit every taste and shops to fit every budget thanks to its central location and numerous shopping centers. In fact, Burlington Mall offers more than 185 specialty stores along with an outdoor green space that includes lawn games, a bocce ball court and fire tables for chilly nights.
Burlington through the years
Burlington began as a small agricultural town, known for its shoe-making shops, but its role has changed throughout the years. Once consisting of around 70 homes, it became the fastest-growing town in Massachusetts from 1955-1965, when Route 128 was completed. Today, the area is known for technology and healthcare, but several original homes still stand. You can even visit some of them, like the historic Francis Wyman homestead, as you follow the Burlington Heritage Trail.
